David Cates – Why Medical Malpractice Should Be Reported

If you believe that you or a loved one has been the victim of medical malpractice, it is critical that you speak to a leading attorney such as David Cates about the issue. There is nothing to suggest that you absolutely have a case here, but speaking to a lawyer is the best thing to do. The reason for this is that doctors make mistakes, so too do nurses and surgeons, and this doesn’t necessary mean malpractice. In many cases however, there could very well be a case of medical malpractice and it is important that you raise such issues. Some are actually reluctant to do so but here is why it is important.

Deeper Issues

Mistakes can happen at any time of course and in the case of doctors and medics their mistakes have the potential to be far worse than in any other profession. With this being said however what we often find with medical malpractice cases is that the professional responsible often has deeper issues which have lead to their lack of professionalism. In such a situation it is critical that the issue is raised because of the fact that in doing so we can prevent anything from happening again in the future. This is certainly one of the most important reasons why these issues should be raised.

Due Compensation

Compensation, contrary to what is often painted, is not about a money grab or someone trying to make a buck. In the case of medical malpractice compensation is absolutely necessary because of the emotional and physical trauma caused to the patient. There are so many victims of these kind of issues who are not able to work or who have consequential issues which were caused through no fault of their own. Now the clock cannot be turned back but we can certainly ensure that the patient is given some kind of benefit as a result of the problem and that is exactly where compensation comes in. This is not supposed to make up for the issue but following the malpractice it is the very least that the patient should be receiving.

Clear Precedent

Ultimately there is a process which all professionals in the medical community should follow. These steps are there to protect both the medical community and to protect the patient. If there is an instance whereby this has not been followed and the result is a medical malpractice issue then further steps need to be taken so that the issue doesn’t occur again. Whilst we must weed out those with issues, we also have to ensure that hospitals and their staff understand the potential severity of their actions. This is again what a medical malpractice case will do, ensure that those in management look at the processes in place and how they are followed, in order to ensure maximum safety of all patients.

If you feel that you have been a victim of this, you have to speak to a professional for advice.
